MGH Institute of Health Professions

2 Constitution Center

MGH’s Institute for Health Professions prepares skilled healthcare specialists in communication sciences and disorders, medical imaging, physical therapy, and nursing. As a fast-growing resource for health education, the institute needed to expand into previously occupied space. Wise completed a 20,000 SF fit-out of the space, adding new and enlarged physical therapy laboratories, a 104-seat active learning classroom with advanced technology, and a collaborative learning classroom that enables students to gather around seated stations to work together on real or simulated case studies to the institute. This interactive approach to education helps prepare students to function as members of interprofessional teams in the clinical setting. The new educational facility is part of the school’s strategic plan for creating an innovative and inviting learning environment. Wise completed this fast-track project in fully occupied office space and integrated the new building into the existing campus environment by creating walkways, installing underground infrastructure, and incorporating architectural elements like wood ceilings to evoke consistency with the institute’s existing architecture and historic setting.
