Communication between the Wise healthcare project team, HVMA, and Steffian Bradley Architects was integral to the completion of the Kenmore Pediatric and OBGYN departments. The project’s goal was to transform 15,000 SF of space previously used for other departments into a new pediatric and OBGYN department with a waiting and reception area, nurse’s station, exam rooms and offices. Throughout demolition, several issues were found with the existing electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems, requiring close communication with HVMA and the architect to keep the tight schedule on track. Additionally, the plumbing systems were located above an active radiology department, requiring off-hours work and stringent containment systems to protect the delicate equipment. In the end, the project’s schedule was met without causing any disturbances to the adjacent departments.
