Wise performed renovations to HVMA’s Oncology Department located at their Kenmore facility to increase capacity and improve the overall patient experience by creating a more calming and soothing environment. The building was occupied during the renovations and required level four ICRA standards as work took place around outpatient chemotherapy patients with compromised immune systems. The project was broken into three phases in order to maintain operations of the facility. Phase One included twelve new private infusion bays, a free standing nurses station, patient rooms, an expanded pharmacy as well as employee locker rooms and new HVAC supply and return ducts. Phase two involved the construction of seven exam rooms and medical office space which required the temporary relocation of the reception area and restrooms. Phase three included eight new exam rooms, medical offices, completion of the new reception area and common area upgrades such as all new MEP, ceilings and flooring. Major challenges of the project included renovating an active, functional pharmacy and upgrading the electrical supply without disrupting power and critical functions to adjacent departments. The Wise team met weekly with the oncology and facility staff to review the construction schedule and functionality of the design intent. Maintaining open lines of communication throughout the project helped to complete the project three weeks ahead of schedule as we were provided with faster turnaround throughout the projects phases. Due to the success of the project HVMA awarded Wise the renovation of their mammography suite. The architect for the project was Steffian Bradley Architects.
