Wise Construction Relocates and Expands its Corporate Headquarters in Winchester, Mass.
Firm aims for LEED certification with green design
WINCHESTER, Mass. (July, 2008)—Wise Construction Corporation, a construction management firm specializing in the healthcare, biotechnology, education and corporate clients, today announced that it has expanded and relocated its corporate headquarters in Winchester, Mass.
Wise relocated its corporate headquarters to 21 East Street in Winchester. Previously located at 39 Holton Street, Wise chose to stay in Winchester where it has strong roots in the community. Wise purchased the 40,000-square-foot one-story office and warehouse building last year, and will occupy half of the building. The remaining space is leased to a tenant.
The new corporate headquarters features an array of first-class amenities such as a library, cafeteria, high-end office spaces, conference rooms, training rooms, as well as custom wood finishes and woodwork. In line with its energy efficient philosophy, Wise focused on incorporating many green design and sustainable elements into their relocation and expansion project.
Emphasizing sustainability and green design, Wise renovated its new space using an abundance of recycled materials with the goal of obtaining LEED certification points. Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, known as LEED, is a nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation of high-performance green buildings and is awarded by U.S. Green Business Council.
“The use of glass in the new space helps create fluidity in the use of natural light to decrease the use of artificial lighting and to cut down and conserve power use,” said John Wise, president of Wise Construction. “We also utilized high efficiency lighting as well as sensor switch off lights to conserve power when artificial light is not needed.”
Wise also incorporated its warehouse into the office environment to help streamline job mobilization and expedite client projects. The company has further plans to green-scape its current property by removing excavating existing concrete pavements and replacing them with trees.
“At Wise, we practice what we preach, and thus we went the extra mile to ensure that our facility functioned to highest energy and environmental standards,” said Mr. Wise. “We’re excited about our new headquarters as it provides extras space for our steady growth, assisting our company in accommodating each of our clients unique needs and demands. The move also provides our employees with an incredible work environment, one that reflects our corporate culture.”
