Wise Construction

Wise Construction Corporation recently completed a 205,000 SF building renovation at 2 Ledgemont Place in Lexington, MA., marking one of the Boston area’s largest Class A corporate office renovation projects awarded in 2006. 

 

The comprehensive project featured the renovation of two large five-story atriums at opposite ends of the building. The existing conditions presented a challenge in that the floor plates are broken up into several wings. To help promote a collaboration within the vertical configuration, a monumental staircase was constructed in the core of the building. Rock and plant gardens, high-end interiors, energy efficient lighting and large horizontal windows were utilized to enhance the infusion of natural light and bring the outside world in to warmly welcome employees and visitors when entering the building.   

 

Integral to the project was the 165,000 SF tenant improvement to accommodate VistaPrint USA’s new corporate headquarters. The leading web-based supplier of high-quality graphic design services, VistaPrint relies heavily on communication and was looking for a high-end interior atmosphere to reflect the company’s position in the global economy. To promote the highly collaborative nature of the company, Wise worked with building owner the Beal Companies and architects Spagnolo Gisness & Associates, Inc. to ensure that the core of each floor serves as a “queue” area to encourage employee interaction. 

 

VistaPrints’ new executive offices include the top three floors of the spiraling atrium featuring a unique stainless steel and glass railing surrounded by several high-tech conference facilities, a data center, and innovative workstations. The entire space has been outfitted with Environmental Branding featuring the vibrant colors of the CMYK printing process to provide a graphic visualization of corporate philosophies throughout. Highlighting the space is a central Kiosk displaying the company’s actual product, a two-story feature wall emphasizing VistaPrint’s “worldwide” concept incorporating global graphics in a variety of languages, and material selections such as wood flooring and gypsum panels reflecting the company’s use of paper in printing. Graphic branding continues through the incorporation of display niches, including a zig-zag wall in the main lobby to simulate an unfolded brochure and 4 panels of back painted glass, each a C, M, Y or K color designed to show the result of blending these to create a full-color image.

 

Common amenities and upgrades for Two Ledgemont included a cafe, fitness center, and utility upgrades to mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems. Working with Property manager The Beal Companies, Wise Construction continues to make exterior improvements to the real estate.
